Winter has turned straight into summer as the weather hit 90 degrees in OKC today.

It is so nice to be outside.  I had some errands to run and had fun riding with the windows down.

Here’s a thought for the day and we can just run with that.  There are people who spend their entire lives trying to fight the spread of Christianity and the idea that there is a God.  So why, when our church asks us to come two days out of the week, and to volunteer on some weekends do we find so many excuses to get out of it?

When did just attending church become an option?  When did “o we think we do enough” become an acceptable answer when asked to volunteer a little more time.

Seriously I don’t understand how the entire foundation of our life can take a back seat to things that are temporary?

We have to check our priorities.  Rather than let your faith just exist in the foreground of life depending on when you have time for it ( so that your life determines your faith) why can’t we change out our faith as the background setting to everything we do (so that your faith determines your life).

It has been a few.  I apologize.  I know there were some of you literally suffocating from a lack of knowledge about what is going on in the life of one 23 year old caucasian, male, student ministries pastor in the northwestern part of oklahoma city, oklahoma.  

Meagan and I had an awesome college small group on thursday night.  Our college group is phenomenal.  It was our first time to meet and everyone clicked and we shared stories from 7 until about 11 it was so much fun.  it will keep meagan and I feeling young (cause we are old.  seriously meagan woke up at 9 today and couldn’t go back to sleep…on saturday.  crazy.)

I received a birthday card from kristin thomas.  wow.  i never knew receiving a birthday card (a grandpa card at that) could bring such joy.  I immediately pinned it up on the wall in my office because its my office and I can put whatever I want on the walls (you know within reason.  it is a church.   my Pantera and Metallica posters have to stay at home….haha.  no i don’t really own those posters)!

The children’s pastor at the church I work at has family that lives in houston so we have been praying and glued to the weather reports about the town.  Such an odd thought to think of a place so big in such peril, but maybe it will wash away some of their terrible football playing and help out their team!  I mean look at what happened to the New Orleans Hornets (ok they was in poor taste sorry).

Meagan and I went to our first Seeworth Academy Football game.  It was funny because they were playing a team I used to cheer for because it had students from my first youth group in it.  So it was interesting and quite a study of the human spirit to watch a rather wealthy group of students (mostly white) play football against a Seeworth team that has one white player.  It was a lineup like the gridiron gang.  Watching these students from different sets and gangs work together and not yell at each other when things got bad but rather play harder was an amazing thing.  They were down 28 to 8 at half and were able to keep the score at 28-14 for the end of the game AND they had touchdowns called back for holding which was really sad!  It was cool to meet a lot of the people meagan works with though, I feel safer knowing they really do take care of her.  And seriously they had their security guy there with a gun on his hip so if anything went down it was getting old west style on the field.

Hey friends.  The sun is shining again in OKC and I was kind of used to the autumn weather…

Hope you are doing good today.  I am in the office preparing for a trip to Six Flags next weekend.  It is the annual Naz Night trip to Arlington.  Me and three other sponsors are taking 18 students to Six flags (where the college I went to rents out the ENTIRE park and then sells tickets so that the only people there are connected to the school and the Nazarene church in some way – so its sort of like a pilgrimage but I am not yet to calling it mecca) don’t you want to come help?  The shortage of people though does mean that the lines are short and riding your favorite rides can happen over and over again.  So we leave next friday…think about me!

I love my wife.  We have had a great, busy, but great week together.  It has been a little tough with her getting into her teaching schedule we had really been together about 24 hours a day since we got married so now sometimes i feel like a puppy who lost his best friend and is just sitting in the yard with no one to roam and run amuck with!  But I am excited for her to get to teach and I know she will be great (she teaches me lessons all the time….besides just correcting my grammar).

The autumn weather brought about some calm feelings and some introspective thoughts for me.  As school gets back into session and I am not starting I feel a little weird.  I know that I should probably going on to get some further education but I am feeling old and crotchety (is the spelled right?  you get it) while students go back and complain about homework and being tired!  

also I am excited for some movies coming out this fall and I am pumped…Eagle Eye comes out in September and I am pretty sure Nov 7 will be one of the greatest days ever as Quantum of Solace (the next James Bond movie) is released.  Meagan is already aware that we have to be there for the midnight showing!

I LOVE HER!
